FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What age should I start training my puppy?
It's never too early to start training your puppy! We recommend beginning training as soon as you bring your puppy home, typically around 8 weeks of age, to establish good habits and build a strong foundation for learning.
What training methods do you use?
We use positive reinforcement training methods, which focus on rewarding desired behaviors with treats, praise, and other rewards to encourage learning and cooperation. Our training approach emphasizes building trust, strengthening the bond between you and your dog, and promoting a positive training experience.
What vaccinations does my puppy need before training begins?
Unless your goals revolve solely around in-home behaviors, for the safety of all participants we require puppies to be up-to-date on their core vaccinations. These include distemper, parvovirus, and rabies, as recommended by your veterinarian. Proof of vaccination may be required prior to the start of your training program.
Do I have to pay upfront for training sessions?
While we require a deposit to secure your spot in our training programs, full payment is not needed upfront. The deposit ensures your commitment to the program, and the remaining balance can be paid at the conclusion of the program.
How involved do I have to be in the training process?
While the actual training sessions do not require your direct involvement (you don’t even need to be home!), owner involvement is critical for the success of the training program. We provide a lesson at the end of each week to transfer what your dog has learned, and you will be given homework assignments to reinforce training between sessions. Your consistent participation, practice, and reinforcement of training techniques are essential for achieving lasting results and strengthening the bond with your dog.
